Latest Updates from Our Project:

BackerKit Surveys, Our Next Game, and Gen Con
over 5 years ago – Wed, Aug 08, 2018 at 01:58:33 AM

Hey Divers,

Warning: there is a lot of info in this update. It's all important!

It has been just over two weeks since the Wreck Raiders campaign has ended. It feels to me like no time has passed at all. That's because we've been really busy getting everything set up for Wreck Raiders to go to the manufacturer. We are still a week or two away, but we are well on our way.

BackerKit Surveys

Today we'll begin sending out your BackerKit surveys. It is VERY important to complete them right away. Here's why:

1. We want to know how many games we have to order from the manufacturer.

As you may remember, we are offering you free shipping for any games you add on. So even if you pay for 10 games, we'll only charge you shipping for your first game. That's a pretty fantastic deal!! You should take advantage of this!

2. As you may remember, you were not charged for shipping during the Kickstarter campaign. This means that we need to charge you for shipping now. We are using the exact same shipping prices as listed on the Kickstarter campaign.

How BackerKit Works

For those of you who have never used BackerKit before, let us give you a few pointers.

  • We will send the survey out to you beginning today. Don't put it off. It is best if you fill out your survey in a timely manner. The longer it takes you to complete it, the longer it will take us to troubleshoot if need be.
  • If you don't receive your survey by the end of Friday, check with Kickstarter to make sure that you have used the correct and most recent email address. Once you confirm this, check your backer status. Some of you have lost your backing because of expired credit cards, etc. If this is you and you still want the game, please send us a message and we can work something out.
  • Follow the steps BackerKit takes you through. It is very user friendly. If you have any questions, don't hesitate to contact them for info. They are very helpful. I'll be happy to help you as well.

Timelines and Dates

We are looking at a pretty quick turnaround for Wreck Raiders.

Surveys

We'd like the surveys to be complete by August 16th. This doesn't mean your addresses need to be final; it just means that your order must be in by this day.

Credit Cards

We'll be charging credit cards exactly 1 week after the survey deadline. That means August 23rd, your credit cards will be charged for shipping and add-ons.

Address Lock Down

You've got quite some time before addresses need to be locked down. Since we believe we're going to have the games on a boat to your region by March, we'll need to lock down your addresses by then. We don't have an exact date as of now, but we'll be keeping you in the know in the coming months.

Future Communication

Once I have most of your surveys completed and I am about to charge your cards I will send another update to let you know where we are in the manufacturing process. I will continue sending communications each step of the way. You'll get pictures of the sample, you'll know what our manufacturing completion date is, and I'll let you know when Wreck Raiders starts its journey to your area of the world. So, keep your eyes open for communication from us!

Yes, We Already Have Another Game

.

Simple rules, short play time, and lots of different ways to create cool scoring combos make this a perfect casual filler for players of all types.

  • 6+
  • 2-5 players
  • 10-20 minutes

So many bugs crawling around on beautiful rugs! Ants like to travel in big colonies. Fireflies love the bright rug colors. Spiders are always on the lookout for juicy flies. Nine different bugs in all, and your job is to make sure all of them get what they want!

Players take turns drafting bugs from the Floor into their hand to make different sorts of sets; each bug type scores differently at the end of the game. At the end of each round there will be one leftover bug… it crawls onto the Wall, where its unique power activates to change things up! At the end of the game players reveal their bug collections and we see who has made the most valuable hand of creepy crawlers!

Bugs on Rugs is headed to Kickstarter this Fall!

Gen Con

We were in a great spot. Many of you who visited got to see what the prototype for Wreck Raiders looks like. Some of you even got to play a round or two. Thanks so much for coming out to visit us!

We Did It!
almost 6 years ago – Fri, Jul 20, 2018 at 01:17:58 AM

Hey Divers!

This we what we saw when the campaign ended:

.
.

We raised over $60 000CAD and had 1585 backers! We are in shock! Thank you so much from the bottom of our hearts!

Josh, Tim, and I had a phone conversation to congratulate one another just after the campaign and we were saying how incredible of an experience this has been for all of us. Not only did the campaign go swimmingly, but it was so much fun! I never thought I could say that about running a Kickstarter campaign. It was a fantastic experience for all of us.

Some Important Info

In the next week or two you will receive an email from Kids Table Board Gaming through BackerKit. It is important that you tend to it ASAP. Your pledge info will be transferred from Kickstarter to BackerKit to allow us to collect your addresses and your shipping costs. If you remember from the campaign, you haven't been charged for shipping yet. There was a shipping matrix at the bottom of the campaign page that looked like this:

.
.

You will be charged according to the country you live in. You will also have a few questions to answer.

I will be locking down your surveys on August 16th. This means that your responses to the survey will be closed. This will help us know how many games we will have to order for you. Precisely one week later, on August 23rd, we will charge your credit cards for add-ons and shipping. You will have until about a month before shipping to lock down your address. When we get closer to the date I will send you an update about it.

What Happens Next

We are going to spend a few days breathing. And then, back to work. Most of the art and graphic design for the game is complete. We are going to spend a few days tightening up the rules. Then your games will be off to the manufacturer. When we get a sample of the game (probably in September) we will take some photos and pass them on to you. I believe you will have your games in your hands before the end of April. But only time will tell. Is it April yet?

Some Final Thoughts

To our video production guy Jon Mietling, and our artist Apolline Etienne, you have created the Wreck Raiders world. You have helped to bring this game to life. For that we thank you!

To our previewers, your energy and enthusiasm is what helped our backers decide that Wreck Raiders was the right game for them. We couldn't have done this without you!

To Dennis Ku, our Solo mode designer ... two short days and you and Tim had created a masterpiece. Thank you so much for coming aboard and taking this game to new heights.

To Tim, co-designer of Wreck Raiders, thank you for trusting in us allowing us to make this incredible game. Your carefully thought-out mechanisms were certainly at the centre, and the reason why so many people are excited about it.

To Josh, co-designer of Wreck Raiders, and graphics/rules guy extraordinaire, you created this entire campaign from start to finish. You are one of the most incredible people in the business, and I'm lucky to have you as a partner.

Now to our backers... I have had so many words for you through this whole campaign. And right now, I feel like I have no words. Your support and encouragement were palpable. Congratulations to you all for helping to make this an incredible experience. I have no doubt you will feel about Wreck Raiders the way you felt about the campaign. From the bottom of my heart, I thank you!

Did You Know

Lion-fish

The Lion-fish is also know as the turkey fish or fire-fish and is from the scorpion fish family. Lion-fish have venomous spines, which can produce painful puncture wounds when touched. They are typically found in reef ecosystems along the Eastern United States, in the Gulf of Mexico, and in the Caribbean Sea. Lion-fish reproduce quickly and have very few enemies. This has resulted in their designation as an invasive species.

Sea Otter

The Sea Otter is a member of the weasel family, and is the second smallest mammal found in water. They are usually found in kelp beds because they prey on animals that live in the kelp forests off the coast. Incredibly, Sea Otters open mollusks (their food) while floating on their backs, and smashing them on a stone balanced on their chests. By the year 1910 the Sea Otter had been hunted almost to extinction for its thick red/brown coat. In recent year, the Sea Otter has been protected, and has thankfully been increasing in population.
